INSIDIOUS (2011)
The definition of this word is 'something that continues at a gradual pace, but has very harmful effects in the long run'. This represents what happens in the film based on the dangerous entity that is haunting their child and family home. The font used in this title is very bold and in your face to audience members due to the letters being very tall and having a slight 3D effect. This combined with the almost glowing red colours used make it seem very sinister. For this reason we felt that using red in our title was a very good idea to give the idea of blood and gore from the offset. |
The Thing (2011)
This title is combined with imagery from the film in order to give the idea that we have no idea what 'the thing' that the title eludes to is. This imagery combined with this vague phrasing of thing will peak the curiosity of those watching and possibly draw a lot of people to watch the film. The text used is very thick and chunky with a rough edge and shows off a lot of white space within it which is symbolic of the place in which the film is set (in the Arctic). |
Hush (2016)
Use of this word only gives connotations to sound or even being silenced. This lets the audience know that the horror in this movie is going to be associated with audio and to prepare themselves for this. Looking at the tagline we are also able to infer that things will definitely involve death in some way, whether it be zombies or a murderer, again something that we need to find out as the audience. The imagery of the needle and thread used also add to what the film my be about, because with the word 'Hush' you would tend to think of a mouth being closed and combined with this imagery this could be done forcibly with a stitches - Reinforcing the horror theme. |
Our Title
"Muse"
For our title we eventually decided on 'Muse' because of the many meanings the word can have. Its most basic meaning is something that gives inspiration to an artist, which in the case of our main antagonist would be to kill people in order to finish his work. The appearance of this title also played a crucial part, as its red colouring and almost painted appearance gave it the symbolism to link with our film. |
Our Tagline
"Life is Art. Death is a Masterpiece."
We chose this tagline due to the common phrase that life is art and added our take of 'Death is a Masterpiece' to tie it into our trailer and add a sinister connotation. The short and snappy nature of the tagline works to our advantage as people just glancing at the poster will have it stick in their head and bring them back to the movie in future. Use of the word masterpiece also makes the viewer want to see what this grand final work might be and the only way to do so and find out would be to watch the film. |
